December 24, 1863. They opened on May 26, 1861 in Philadelphia, PA on Otsego Street near the Delaware River. William M. Cooper was the proprietor and they served soldiers moving through the area. It was run by committee and supported by donations. This sheet is an uncut sheet of four Patriotic checks issued on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1863. They are very cool and an important human relationship to the war.
