Fr. 375 $20 1891 Cut Sheet
Grade:
PMG Ch. UNC 64 EPQ
This amazing cut sheet of 1891 open back Treasury notes was part of the Atlantic Collection that was discovered as part of a vault cash hoard from an Eastern bank. Each note seems to be correctly graded as 64 EPQ because while totally fresh and original the centering, while decent, just isn't quite Gem quality. This type was so rare before this discovery that Amon Carter's amazing holdings did not have any Fr. 375 examples, other than a VF. Then there were around 30 reported and now there are 153 shown in Track & Price. When the notes were dispersed by a large marketing company the price for a single note was similar to our estimate for the cut sheet of four. The open back $20 remains a valuable item as ornate backs from the 1890 issue command prices in multiples of these, yet there are only 30% less known.
