Containing over 200 pictures, this is an extensive work on California bank history. Volumes I and II contain a history of California banking. Chapter V discusses Private and Foreign Coinage in California and quotes extensively from Edgar H. Adams book Private Gold Coinage of California, 1849-1855, Its History and Its Issue.
