Lot #2511 - Lincoln, First NB, 3464

National Bank Notes > Kansas

Lincoln, First NB, 3464
Fr. 469 $5 1882BB #1
Grade: Ch. AU
This bank was established in March 1886 and succeeded the Farmers and Merchants Bank. The bank went into voluntary liquidation in September 1894. There was a mere $310 outstanding in 1910, which included only 1,779 sheets of $5 Brown Backs that were issued. Obviously this #1 Brown Back is one of the premier notes of this collection, A jewel that is everything you could ask for. This remains one of the coolest notes on the state, but in 2003 two other notes appeared and they are terrible; these would be OK for collection hole filler. Signed by J. Smith, President and E.W. Mc Junkins, Cashier. From the C. Dale Lyon Collection.
Current Bid: $ 8,500.00

Estimate: ($ 12,500.00 - $ 25,000.00)
