Grade:
PMG Gem UNC 65 EPQ
Ever wonder why you never seen $50 notes with suffix C, D, E or higher? That's because the BEP prints so few of this denomination. If you look at the annual BEP production reports available at www.bep.gov, you see that the average number of notes/year produced over the past decade has been: $1 - 2.9 Billion, $2 - 35 Million, $5 - 680 Million, $10 - 480 Million, $50 - 212 Million, $100 - 1.6 Billion. Only a few times in history did the BEP even issue a B suffix letter on a $50 FRN. Referring to the Schwartz-Lindquist guide, you will see that the first $50 serial #23456789 wasn't printed until the 1950B series: B23456789A. It wasn't until the 1988 series $50 printing that the first #23456789B suffix ladder was printed. A total of only 6 serial #23456789B $50 ladders have ever been printed for all series 1928 to 2009. This big head non-colorized full up ladder $50 ladder is incredibly rare and in wonderful condition. This design has been discontinued, making it mighty tough to find another. Worth multiples of the lower denomination ladders that you have seen offered in the past. You are bidding on a $50 1996 FRN AG23456789B PMG 65 EPQ Gem Uncirculated. It is our opinion that the high end of our estimate may one day prove a bargain. We should remind bidders that each of the $5, $10, $10, $20, $50, and $100 full ladder notes offered today are NOT specimen notes.
