This was the sole bank in this remote and tiny Jefferson County community. It issued mere pocket change circulation - a minuscule $36,000 over a six year period, and until a mediocre Fine note was sold in early 2010, was the last unreported bank/town in New York to issue Series 1929 notes exclusively. This wonderful new discovery is the bottom note from the first sheet of Type 2 $20s issued by the bank, clear proof that the #1 sheet is not socked away somewhere. The bank only issued 144 Type 2 $20s. In addition, the note is a real peach, a fresh and totally unmolested bright and crisp note that will be one of the highlights of the collection it now enters. As good as it gets for small size New York nationals.
