There are notes that are rare but which are ugly and there are notes that are common and attractive. The notes that all serious collectors crave are the ones that are able to combine both rarity and grade, thereby having a synergistic effect when they are offered for sale. PCGS notes some small repaired edge tears and they are trivial at best and hardly worthy of mention. The margins are gigantic on all sides and the right margin has retained its full selvage. Superior printing and bright paper only add to the aesthetic charms wielded by this Colonial. The only notes available from this issue are the larger format $50 and $100 notes, with all of the lower denomination notes ranging from scarce to rare. This fractional denomination note is the only one we have seen and it falls into the crushingly rare category. A four-figure note in every sense of the word and one that should prove our estimate to be conservative.
