Detroit State Bank of Michigan $5
Grade:
PMG Gem UNC 65 EPQ
The central vignette is that of a side-wheeler lake steamer which uses Lyman's protection, a form of alteration protection whereby the note design is split into two sections. A wonderful remainder that has some of the most sublime coloration that we have seen on an Obsolete note. This bank opened for business in 1859 and in 1864 became the First National Bank of Detroit, charter #97.
