This lovely Edmond Everett $50 Silver Certificate is one of only 26 serial numbers recorded; in fact, 20 years ago there were also 26 serial numbers recorded, which follows my theory that notes like this are truly rare and waiting for more to appear may well be futile. This note is wonderful and only five are graded higher, with seven that are rather permanently impounded. This is the only example of the type graded PPQ or EPQ. Four of the 19 notes likely to ever become available are listed higher but the #1 note is part of the Bebee Collection at the ANA Museum. Seven appear to be Fine or less, leaving a dozen in the VF range, more or less. All of this points to a type, with the large brown seal, that would be very difficult to acquire. In 2015 a VF 30 PCGS, not PPQ, realized $54,050, and way back in 2008 we sold a Fine 12 at $28,075, with the Gem CU, part of the Rickey Collection, sold in October 2005 realizing $287,500. Six-figure expectations are very lofty but a number about $50,000 seems to be a price the buyer would be thrilled with.
