This note carries the distinction of being the first example listed in Track & Price as a Fr. 150b, designated as a New Series 1 and bears the date of March 10, 1863. Sales records by variety are slim and there are rarely ever any offered. The Fr. 150 statistics show as: VF 25 Apparent $52,875; AU 50 PPQ $176,250; XF 40 PPQ $182,125; PCGS 50 PPQ $253,000; PMG 40 $299,000. Only a VG 8 and VF 20 have been offered in Fr. 150a and that was back in 2007. Quality, centering and originality, along with fresh color and brilliance are all wonderful terms to describe this problem free and ultimately unique type note variety. If you see this note you will want it badly! Since I began in this business over 50 years ago, this type has been treasured by those lucky enough to acquire one. When this jewel sells I presume it will be equally important.
