Fr. 297 $10 1886
Grade:
PCGS Abt. New 50
This is the last of the 1886 Tombstones and has long been recognized as the rarest signature combination for that type. To date, just 14 pieces have been logged by Track & Price, with just two pieces listed in CU. One of those notes is the example we offer here and the other 'CU' has not appeared recently enough to make it into the Track & Price database, so it may be that no CU notes are known on this Friedberg number. (The other 'CU' is part of a short run containing one AU and an XF, so the other CU may not pass today's stricter grading standards.) In any event, this note is certainly one of the finest examples available to collectors. The last nice note to sell was a PMG Net graded AU that brought $18,800 last August, so expect this note to bring as much or more.
