Sutton is a small community in South Central Nebraska about 75 miles from Lincoln. When this note was issued, Sutton was a thriving town, supporting two National Banks. The town reached its peak population in 1910, but the global financial crisis that was underway finally took its toll on the U. S. economy. Between November 1913 and January 1914 both banks had closed and Sutton had seen its best days. The First NB was chartered in 1884 and was the first to close. The census data shows that three other notes exist from this bank's minuscule issue, but there is no evidence that any of those notes have ever been offered publicly. At last, all the Nebraska collectors have an equal chance to obtain a truly scarce note. Fortunately, it is in lovely condition as well, with great pen signatures. From the Rocky Mountain Collection.
