Fr. 285a $10 1878
Grade: PCGS VF 30 Apparent     PCGS
This is another jewel from the Wm. P. Donlon reference collection sold by him on May 22, 1971, Lot 693, at $1,000. The note is also the Krause-Lembke illustration piece. There are only seven reported serial number and two of those are in the ANA Museum and Smithsonian, and both are likely tied up. Sales records are few but an Apparent VF 25 realized $40,825 in August 2012 is the only one similar that has a recent record. This note has excellent color, originality and centering; the small edge splits have yet to be addressed. We know these are few and far between and there are only 9 or 10 with both Fr. 285 and Fr. 185a. PCGS notes: small edge tears, pinholes.
Current Bid: $ 60,000.00

Estimate: ($ 50,000.00 - $ 100,000.00)
