Letter Discussing Early Colonial New England Bills of Credit
Grade: VF
Enclosed in an olive-colored folio from the Autograph Department of Goodspeed's Book Ship 7 Ashburton Place Boston, Massachusetts. The heading states the autograph is of "Sir Henry Ellis, Librarian of the British Museum. Dated: British Museum, Nov. 27, 1845. Four page letter quoting from a letter by Robt. Gamble which mainly deals with the monetary system of New England as observed by him in 1713." Edge wear seen at the right of the folder. The two handwritten sheets, used on both sides of each, are rim mounted, which actually makes for a good framed presentation. A three page transcription of the Gamble text is included. If you have any interest in Colonial Currency, especially the early Bills of Credit (tall notes) then this is a vital lot to increase your understanding of this genre.
