Extremely difficult intact example; signed by John Fairfax and Sylvia Cook, who rowed across the Pacific in 1971. According to WW II Remembered, "Fanning Island (is) one of the Line Islands in the central Pacific Ocean south of Hawaii...discovered in 1798 by American navigator Captain Edmund Fanning...during the war, (it) maintained a relay station for the Cable and Wireless Company...in 1942 an American army task force rapidly absorbed the available supply of Australian currency in circulation...R.G. Garrett made arrangements to have one pound notes printed in Honolulu...the notes were used to pay local labor. After the currency shortage abated, the notes were collected and cut in half...then used as movie admission tickets." PCGS terms this "Ch. Fine 15 annotations".
