VA-84 5 Pounds September 1, 1775
Grade:
PCGS XF 45
Excellent Dandridge and Norvill signatures. The Carter and Nicholas signatures are also strong but a little too strong. PCGS notes ink erosion, edge damage, repairs. A very bright example with superior ship vignette and bright paper. This note is from the second series of James River bank forms. Unused forms from the 1773 issue were used which is why the format of the second issue is the same. Newman sold an example of this denomination, in a rather average looking PCGS Apparent VF 25 holder, which realized about $450.
