Phoenixville Bank of Phoenixville $10
Grade:
PMG Ch. Fine 15
PA-515 G10a. April 1, 1861. American Bank Note Company imprint at bottom. Horse with wagoner at center. Portrait of John Quincy Adams at left. Steaming train at lower right. Oval advertising stamp on back for "J.R. Casselberry Dry Goods Wholesale and Retail No. 45 North 8th St. Philadelphia." Proofs of this bank are available. Issued notes are rare as hen's teeth, with this being only one of a couple $10 examples we have seen. Newman only had a $1 note, PCGS Fine 12, and that topped the $3,000 mark. When these do appear they always bring a solid multi-thousand dollar price. This is a superb note.
