Washington Bullion Bank $5
Grade:
PCGS Very Ch. New 64
DC-170 G8a. Oct. 30, 1861. National Bank Note Co. Impressive vermillion color frame. Woman with elaborate headdress at center. Portrait of Washington at right. Washington's tomb at Mount Vernon at upper left. All penned features are pristine and look as if they were applied last week. The $5 and $10 notes from this issue are much scarcer than are the lower denominations. The Newman note, consecutive to this one, had a 64 PPQ grade and is the only better example of which we are aware. That piece sold for close to $1,300 and it would not surprise us to see a similar realization this evening.
