Of the eight $5 Red Seals known on the bank, this is the finest one. A perfect representative for a state capital set. This was the last type that used the first title before the Trust Company designation was introduced for Third Charter Date Backs. A gorgeous example that has superb signatures, bright red inks, and terrific embossing. The consecutive note to this one sold for $1,380 in 2011. This same note sold for $1,100 in a 2001 Smythe sale, well before there was any price appreciation in the Nationals market.
