Iconic "blank back" on a Deuce. This cataloguer recalls a time, nearly twenty years ago, when a collector offered $25,000 for a blank back $2, to complete his denomination set and came up empty-handed after nearly a decade of looking. Much rarer than the highly-touted and more expensive double print $2s, as offered earlier in this collection. This note came from the Gregg Anderson Collection that we sold where it realized $8625 in spirited bidding. We anticipate that number to be left in the dust when the hammer falls.
