The $1 red seal legal tender note is a two note set with a regular and a star. There are sixty stars reported and only three likely better and also the lowest UNC star reported. In March of this year a PMG 66 Fr. 1500* realized $66,000 and it was not a low number and a 65 realized $42,000 at HA last year. Was lot #2 in the Memphis 97 sale. It is quite nice with slight handling.

There are a great number of $1 1928 legal tender notes known with some 4,553 serial number reported including many fancy serial numbers. This ladder #234 is a favorite of mine. Another one is the #1234 of course. This one has a note that it came from Toivo Johnson in 1944. I recall his early ads when I was a boy and I think he used to offer private medals regularly.

There are exactly 100 regular issue notes and one star listed in T&P. This note came directly from the Amon Carter Jr. estate to Dean Oakes where it has remained for his "stock box". Since that time we sold a lower serial with his earlier collection. There is a single UNC 66 that is listed and it realized over $20k in 2020 at Stack's. An extraordinary note for the FRBN collector. This note does not have Gem centering, but the paper and color are wonderful.

Records are all over from a 65 realizing $15,275 in 2015 and a 64 bringing $12,925 in 2013 to a 65 realizing $2,400 in 2025 and $3,600 for a 64 in the same HA sale with different grading companies.

These are well matched for color, paper quality, centering. Slight handling likely from being counted as vault cash. There are very few "specials" known for this serial and a #1 $10 sold for slightly over $20k in 2024. Number 2 notes have been pulled for at least 20 years by someone and when will this opportunity exist after this offering? Small size does not get better than this.

Few collectors have been fortunate enough to find this star rarity in such beautiful quality.

Here we have the note nobody would believe we had acquired when I got it from the Davenport Bank Hoard. I acquired this ultra rare star with a solid serial number and it soon was in Iowa City in a "put away" box that I believe all four known examples have passed through. Will the solid serial or grade push the price war between bidders.

I think this is a beautiful fresh and original note that is among the finest of the type and consecutive to the 65 sold by Heritage.

This lazy deuce from charter #4 is one of five reported for this charter, but I wonder if this is the earliest deuce with a charter number displayed. Two have lower serial numbers but when was the "4" added? Charter #3 has three deuces but I have no data on the charter number. This is a pretty, original series note from one of America's earliest banks. From New Netherlands Public Auction in March 1968 where it realized $67.50. Signatures of Alexander R. Turkington and Charles William Brown.

This beautiful blue end paper lazy deuce is one of three 1875 series reported, and there is an original series known as well. There are seven notes reported with the first title of Tama City and thirteen with the Tama title. We last sold this note in 2016 for $12,925, while last year we sold a lower grade for $6,900. This should make any collector ecstatic at the thought of ownership. This bank was organized with capital of $50,000 on August 5, 1871 and the president was Benjamin A. Hall while the cashier was George Henry Warren. If you like deuces or central Iowa, this note is an easy choice to add.

This one is from a 2/95 HA/CAA sale signed by Owens & Roache and printed by NBNC, NY. This is an XF in the census but I believe it to be a VF/XF as there are both horizontal and vertical folds. But it has great color and body.

Lee Smith. The paper is very well worn and it was printed by the National Bank Note Company in NY. This note is not shown in the T&P census.

NY and pen signed by Wm. Brownell, President and H.C. Stevens, Cashier. This note has excellent appearance and wonderful paper quality for the grade. There are 91 large notes reported of which 34 are deuces, mostly 1875 series.
