January 15, 1863. A pair of fractional notes payable at the Bank of Fort Edward. These notes have the New York state seal and a large red "V" and "X" protectors. The Village of Sandy Hill became Hudson Falls in 1910.

October 30, 1862. A nice remainder with three broad margins (the right margin is close, but not into the design) for this scarce merchant. Messenger formed seven banks or banking houses, but with the advent of the 10% tax on obsoletes in circulation, he changed careers and was into real estate and insurance until he died in 1897.
