Minor cutting error with the design frame from the note below visible along the bottom left. On a modern FRN, in comparable condition, it would be worth only $50, on a large size Silver the value escalates and, crazy enough, the hammer probably won't reflect the true rarity.

Fr. 635 $10 1902ND
This attractive example comes from one of the more available Los Angeles banks to issue large notes. That is fortunate, since small notes from this institution are nearly impossible to locate, a result of the bank closing in early 1930. This particular note is special in that it seems to have been the personal keepsake of the bank s President. (His name, E. M. Smith, is penned on the back.) The note was clearly one of the first delivered, bearing a nice low serial number, and was saved prior to circulation, showing storage folds only. Most notes from here are either uncirculated $50s or $100s or low grade, making this three fold XF a pleasing, yet affordable Choice. From the Rocky Mountain Collection.

October 8, 1862. Little is known about this merchant except that a few pieces of his scrip that have made it into the collecting community. A skull and crossbones vignette is at the center and directly below are the words, "To Counterfeit is Death." Birch's choice of the skull and crossbones has insured the popularity of his scrip. There are a couple of small edge cuts and some staining at the top.
