The New Castle County NB of Odessa is virtually the sole source of $1 First Charters for the entire state, and few of them grade better than Fine. This Original Series note is well used, but intact. The edges are in good shape considering the extensive use and the note has a small hole caused by a rust spot. Any Delaware First Charter is a sought after item and even the lowest grade notes regularly sell for many thousands of dollars. This should be no exception.

This could be the finest of those three, but it is hard to say since the last time the other XF was on the market the Soviets were invading Afghanistan! Even this example has been put away since 1990 when it was auctioned by Stack's. It is a beautiful high-grade note with blue end paper, great pen signatures and colors that look like they were printed yesterday. Crackly fresh originality is evident throughout.

Track & Price lists just two offerings from years of auction records. One offering was in 2000, when a $2 Original was sold and again in 2002 when the same note reappeared. Since then, nothing! While this note has its faults, there is no denying it is worth going after. Desilked, with scuffs and tears.

For this reason, the prices on nice examples of this type have been going through the roof as of late.

In our PCDA sale, we just sold a PCGS Apparent VF 30 for just over $1,000 and this one should easily meet that mark and then some.
