A lovely example of this Fugio fractional Continental note that has bold sundial and thirteen chain links as well. Deep crimson signature and serial number remain. It faces up like a solid VF but the paper is a tad too soft and there is a tiny edge nick as well as a paper pull on the top back center of the note. Someone will be very pleased once they claim this prize.

The eye appeal of this piece is really quite good considering the center fold has a couple of hinged tear repairs. The signatures remain bold and the print quality is superb. An internal slash cancel is noted which is difficult to see unless closely inspected. The 1775 issues are far more challenging to obtain than the 1776 and 1780 issues.

This July 1775 issue is seen with far less frequency than the common 1776 and 1780 issues with the 40 shilling denomination making scant few appearances in any auction records. This note has the eye appeal of a stunning gem with mountainous embossing and superb print quality. There are a couple of old mounting remnants on the back portion of the note that preclude us from assigning such a lofty grade.

A very intriguing piece of Connecticut fiscal paper that is unlisted in Anderson and one which we have not seen before. The normal typeset Pay Table Office fiscal paper is brutally common but this one is entirely handwritten. Written on laid paper and made out to Ralph Pomeroy and signed by John Lawrence, Esq. as Treasurer.

A far scarcer example of the lowest denomination of this issue. The signatures remain bold and the paper is still crisp. There are the usual host of issues which include center fold restorations and edge tears.

"The Rising States" is the motto seen on this boldly printed North Carolina colonial. While there are two very minor thinned spots the note is otherwise lightly handled with a couple of corner tip folds and perhaps a short bend.

A nice example of this tougher Virginia issue which has exceptional print quality and the Jackson and Wray signatures remain intact. There are two folds and a couple of corner folds as well as edge splits at the top and bottom of the center fold. A pleasing example that should find a happy new home in someone's collection.

In terms of eye appeal this rice paper note is quite satisfying. Very well-signed and boldly printed with a radar serial number 3663 as well. The note has been backed and also the corners have been replaced and redrawn to varying degrees.

Unknown One Mill Ticket
A very interesting item, the first of three different amounts from a Denomination set put together long ago by our consignor. The only mentions of these types of notes are in Roger Durands "Interesting Notes About Denominations" that was published in 1988. Roger subsequently sold his four pieces (One, Two, Three and Four Mills) at the 1993 Memphis Sale, where Herb and Martha Schingoethe acquired them. Those same four pieces were then sold as Lot 1250 in Part Seven of the Schingoethe Collection. Needless to say, with no other mentions in print over the past 24 years, when will another opportunity present itself? The present piece differs from the aforementioned as this is printed in black and signed by "Wm. G. Clarke", while the Durand piece is in blue and signed by Anson Collins. Also note that the present piece has been signed on back by a "Miss Ann Kirtland".

Overwhelming originality claims this higher denomination MPC. The Green Sheet is impossibly behind the times in pricing these are they rarely are ever found in CU condition. THREE PIECES. Two notes and a token; both notes are remainders without serial numbers. Depression Scrip issued as money substitutes during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The 1 Dollar is from the First Issue, unlisted as a remainder. Issue date was May 31, 1933. The 50 Cents is from the Second Issue, also unlisted as a remainder; printer Security Banknote Company. Also contains unlisted 33mm octagonal aluminum 50 Cents token, presumably issued at around the same time as the paper scrip. This token is the first ever publicly sold. Pinehurst scrip has always been difficult to obtain.
