The denomination, presented on different geometric backgrounds, appears in the remaining corners. Lovely ivory paper with dark black printing. Small folds in each corner, with one tiny pinhole at the lower right.

The central vignette depicts a seated female figure representing Liberty supporting a shield, boldly emblazoned with the first national flag of the Confederacy. A spread-winged eagle completes the scene. A female figure, variously identified as Commerce and Hope, standing beside two bales of cotton, leans upon an anchor in the lower left corner. Heavy soiling and several small stains present. Minor paper loss at the top and bottom center. Cut cancelled upon redemption.

The principal vignette depicts three slaves straining to load cotton bales onto a wagon, while a smaller, secondary vignette features a standing sailor leaning on an anchor with a sextant at his feet and a ship in the distance. Traces of mounts at the upper left and right. Several small pinholes, that are difficult to see unless held to the light, are present.

One of the more interesting designs in the Confederate currency series. The signatures of the treasury officials are at the center rather than along the lower border. At the left is an oval portrait of Robert M.T. Hunter, a short-term Confederate Secretary of State and later a senator from Virginia. In the lower right corner is a vignette of the Reverend Dr. Alfred L. Elwin as a child, an ironic choice of subject as he grew into a Unionist and an abolitionist. An orange-red overprint featuring the denomination appears in each upper corner and at the center. Two 'X' cancellations flank the central area of the note.

The central vignette of this attractive design features a standing female figure supporting an anchor, with agricultural and commercial products in the background. A portrait at the left depicts Robert M.T. Hunter, a short-term Confederate Secretary of State, while the one at the right depicts Christopher G. Memminger, the Confederate Secretary of the Treasury. Two red 'X' overprints separate these vignettes, the lacy design used to deter counterfeiting. This note is cut extremely tight at the top, with the top of the financial statement affected. Several minor stains are scattered throughout the design. Two 'X' cut cancellations flank the central vignette, with tape remaining on the back that closes the cuts.

The central vignette features a portrait of Christopher G. Memminger, the Confederate Secretary of the Treasury, in an oval that is flanked by the issuing authority and denomination. A vignette depicting Minerva appears at the right end, while the denomination dominates the left end. Several parts of the design are printed in bluish-green ink in an effort to deter counterfeiting. This note is cut tight at the lower left, with part of the lower border being cut off. Several tape hinges are affixed to the back, particularly along the top edge. Two 'X' cancellations, that have been closed with tape, flank the portrait.

This more challenging T-39 spent time in Georgia as the interest paid stamps are from Savannah. A very pleasing example that has a single corner fold to account for the grade. Listed as PF-2 on the back of the holder. Recent results show a great surge in demand for the T-39 to T-41 notes.
