A corner fold is all that keeps this scarce May 1775 $30 from a four figure price tag. As it is it is well signed and boldly printed, making it worthy of a several hundred dollar price tag.

This is by far the scarcest and most desirable denomination of the Fugio notes from this issue. A single center fold accounts for the grade and we cannot remember the last time we saw one that was uncirculated. While the $1/2 notes bring around $500 in this grade, the $1/6 notes always carry a four figure price tag in this lofty grade.

Sam Hillegas signed this desirable $1 note.......only five of the eleven Continental emissions produced this denomination. There is an edge split at the top that has been expertly sealed but the note is otherwise AU and pleasing on the eyes.

A very well margined and, most importantly, uncancelled Massachusetts note. When these notes don't have the typical cancellation they become much more valuable. The top margin strays a touch too close at the left for the gem grade to have been assigned.

This is the issue with the handwritten dates. Until a few years ago this denomination was unknown until a small group of them were unearthed in the Southwest. In 2004 three of them brought about $7,000 each but prices have waned somewhat since then. This note has great originality and eye appeal and should fit as a popular type into someone's Colonial collection.

Even though PCGS notes small edge splits that is one of the nicest things they could have said. Small change Pennsylvania notes are common from the 1770s issues but from this Bettering House money issue they are actually very scarce to rare. This example faces up better than the assigned grade with good print quality and bold signature and serial number. Do not expect this to just fly by for some paltry sum as obtaining it should prove to be quite a chore.

Most gems that you see of this issue are the small change notes; it is borderline rare to find such a condition rarity.

The year "72" obviously pertains to 1872 which is what makes the inscription contemporary to the circulating period of this piece. Very cool if you ask this cataloger.

This is a lovely example which could have very easily been deemed fully Choice New. The print quality and eye appeal on this note is exceptional. There has been a lot of pent up demand for this single denomination type over the years and it has resulted in a recent swelling of demand. A quick check of auction archives shows that this demand has resulted in an explosion in prices.

We cannot find any trace of a watermark on this note and it is printed on the proper type of paper for this rare variety. The note is high enough grade to be able to detect if it is this challenging Friedberg number and the margins are sizeable enough that trimming away watermark is not an issue. A real delight for the one collector who is lucky enough to obtain it. In the past couple of years mid-grade circulated examples have been testing the four figure mark and we would expect a similar result here.

It has been given serial number D00000000A and on the back is noted to be #315 out of a limited run of #500. Believe it or not these sell quite as three figure items in their raw state and we would suspect that in a PCGS holder they will do even better. If the time comes (and it may) that there is a set registry for these then the price will go through the roof.
