Lot #27 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 9,000.00 - $ 12,000.00)

An amazing $5 Rainbow. The beauty of the First Issue Legal Tenders was so strong it was necessary to create a strong design for the series that replaced it, and the Rainbow notes have done that. This note is magnificent. There is only a single note graded higher by PMG.
Grade: PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ

Lot #37 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 2,250.00 - $ 3,500.00)
Fr. 93 $10 1862
Collectors know how scarce this issue is to find in nice circ grade like this first issue $10 Legal Tender. Definitely a note that would be difficult to replace.
Grade: VF/XF
Lot #38 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 750.00 - $ 1,500.00)
Fr. 94 $10 1862
This note has decent body but it has plenty of edge flaws, minor tears and a piece out of the top. Scarce type.
Grade: Fine
Lot #39 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 12,500.00 - $ 17,500.00)
Fr. 95b $10 1863
Flawless rendering of the first $10 intended for general circulation. Original embossing is plainly evident through the holder. The red overprint is strikingly bold and the forest green inks deeply imprinted. There is not even a hint of single issue on any of the edges, which commonly plague these early issues. Additionally, the margins are more generous than most of these.
Grade: RCGS Ch. CU 63 PQ
Lot #40 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 14,000.00 - $ 18,000.00)
Fr. 96 $10 1869

Grade: PCGS Gem New 66 PPQ
Lot #41 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 1,250.00 - $ 1,750.00)
Fr. 96 $10 1869
A lovely circ Rainbow $10 that has exceptional color and even circulation. It certainly looks good.
Grade: PCGS VF 20
Lot #42 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 4,000.00 - $ 6,000.00)
Fr. 107 $10 1880

Lot #43 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 14,000.00 - $ 18,000.00)
Fr. 114 $10 1901
A beautiful, fresh, original Bison and one of the best you can find. Only six notes have been graded higher by PMG. This note has amazing centering and bold, vivid colors. It's sure to please. This piece was last offered by Heritage in January 2005.
Grade: PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ
Lot #44 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 225.00 - $ 350.00)
Fr. 114 $10 1901
A well used Buffalo from the Texas hoard.
Grade: G/VG
Lot #45 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 300.00 - $ 500.00)
Fr. 115 $10 1901

Grade: VG
Lot #46 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 16,000.00 - $ 22,000.00)
Fr. 116 $10 1901
This is as close to the top of the known notes as you will find without being there as there is only a single PMG 67 known, plus two other '66s'. A great rarity for a set collector. This example would be virtually impossible to improve upon.
Grade: PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ
Lot #47 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 25,000.00 - $ 35,000.00)
Fr. 117 $10 1901
This jewel is equal to the finest known by PMG. Only one other example of this rare Bison has been graded this high, with none grading higher. If you want the best set of Buffalo notes then you need this one. This is without a doubt the rarest of the entire run of Buffalo notes. There are but 26 serial numbers in the census; less than half of any other, and the rest are all over 100. A rare opportunity to fill a hole that could remain elusive for years to come.
Grade: PMG Ch. UNC 64 EPQ
Lot #48 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 11,000.00 - $ 14,000.00)
Fr. 117 $10 1901
This is certainly as rare as any Buffalo for the signatures. It looks superb but it has a hint of a bend. If you are building a Buffalo registry set it will be tough to improve on this peach.
Grade: PMG Ch. Abt. UNC 58 EPQ
Lot #49 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 15,000.00 - $ 20,000.00)
Fr. 118 $10 1901
This is an extremely rare example of this signature combination on a Bison. While there are over 100 in the census, only one is PMG '65' and one is a higher '67'. All the rest don't pass muster for a Gem. Those who want a great set of Buffalo notes, this is it.
Grade: PMG Gem UNC 65 EPQ
Lot #50 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 1,500.00 - $ 2,000.00)
Fr. 121 $10 1901

Fr. 122 $10 1901
This is one of the great personality notes that has always been sought after and in high demand. PMG has only grade five notes higher and all by just a single point. This note has it all - color, centering, originality and embossing. If it makes it great then it's all here.
Grade: PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ
Lot #53 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 750.00 - $ 1,000.00)
Fr. 122 $10 1901
A solid Buffalo that might grade VF 20 some day, or maybe most days now. It's an excellent circ with a nice look for the grade.
Grade: F/VF
Lot #54 - Large Size Type Notes > Legal Tender - ($ 80,000.00 - $ 100,000.00)
Fr. 127 $20 1869
The Rainbow Series of 1869 is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and exciting of all currency issued by our government. The uniqueness of the use of color, paper and ink to create such art is indeed the art of the master. It had to be difficult to attempt to improve on the initial design chosen for our Legal Tender notes because amazing is the only work good enough to describe the First Issues, and then came the Rainbows. If you are looking for the best possible that is available then this one is for you. An amazing $20 Rainbow that is as lovely as it could be.
Grade: PCGS Superb Gem New 68 PPQ

Lot #68 - United States Paper Money > Large Size Type Notes > Silver Certificates - ($ 7,500.00 - $ 12,500.00)
Fr. 248 $2 1896
A pristine, vivid Educational Deuce which we studied before encapsulation. We can readily vouch for the total originality of the paper, the deep embossing, the lack of handling, the sharpness of the corners, and the crisp rendering of the design. PCGS comments _small holes repaired near center_ which we can't locate. This is precisely the type of note that strikes most collectors as a solid value, 'Gem' appearance for Choice balanced beauty it possesses.

Lot #264 - United States Paper Money > Large Size Type Notes > Gold Certificates - ($ 3,500.00 - $ 4,000.00)
Fr. 1173 $10 1922

Lot #265 - United States Paper Money > Large Size Type Notes > Gold Certificates - ($ 250.00 - $ 500.00)

Lot #266 - United States Paper Money > Large Size Type Notes > Gold Certificates - ($ 7,000.00 - $ 12,500.00)
Fr. 1175a $20 1882 Triple Signature
Twenty-eight documented for this extremely rare variety bearing the counter-signature of Thomas C. Acton, Assistant Treasurer. This particular note appears in a thirty-year-old catalog with the comment _the face appears to exceed Fine standards_, an observation with which we fully concur. PMG has assigned a grade of VG 10 Net to this wholly pleasing note. There is a short split at the left end with pinholes in the center of the note when candled. Besides that, the color, especially on the front, is far nicer than what the grade would suggest. Opportunities to purchase triple signature notes come few and far between with only three or so offered in a given year. There are only two CUs; one brought $138,000 a few years ago. We sold a very attractive XF back in 2006. While this note is not as nice as either of those, neither will it cost anywhere near as much. A legitimate balance of rarity, eye-appeal, and value.
Grade: PMG VG 10 Net
Lot #267 - United States Paper Money > Large Size Type Notes > Gold Certificates - ($ 80,000.00 - $ 120,000.00)
Fr. 1180 $20 1905
This $20 Technicolor is the quality of note that dreams are made of because it is truly amazing in every way. Brilliant colors, wonderful centering and bold embossing. This note was the choice of Teddy Roosevelt and it's an amazing match for the high-relief released in 1907. There are eight '66s' and only three '67s' graded by PMG. Absolute beauty at its finest.

Fr. 1216 or Fr. 1217 $500 1882 or 1922
How this note occurred and escaped is beyond me, but I know it's quite a rarity and has been part of this collection for decades. The second face printing is completely missing. I don't know where the portrait and serial numbers were printed, but all are missing. Either this was a test note for the gold ink only or it's an error. I'm not quite sure but it's a rare item that belongs to either and error collector or a proof/assai collector. My belief is that it's an error.

$10 1933 A00000077A
The 1933 $10 Silver Certificate is as rare as they get because it was the heart of the Depression and not many $10 notes were needed, so even circ notes are rare and seldom offered. This note has it all - quality, rarity and a special serial #77. Obviously these notes were saved by someone with a pile of dough or a bank to hold them. Few ever have this quality and the number is, well, one of a kind.

Pairs in 10 note run. The forward COP goes from Series 1934 to Series 1934-A, while the reverse goes from the later series to the earlier one. As if that isn't astounding enough, the two pairs are preserved in a run of 10 notes which begin and end with Series 1934 mules! Six notes (not in the actual changeovers) grade UNC 62 EPQ, while of the four notes involved in the actual changeovers include one in Gem UNC 65 EPQ and three in Gem UNC 66 EPQ. This lot offers a unique _must have_ opportunity for the collector of small size or Boston. The first and last notes of this run are mules. Ten piece lot.
