My good friend Debbie Little-Wilson of Austin tells me that all the cowgirls were known as 'Cowboy Girls' until Will Rogers set eyes on Lucille Mulhall, and said she was much more than a "Cowboy Girl", she was a "Cowgirl". Terrific photo of movie set "Roaring Gulch" complete with cowboys, fake front buildings, dirt streets and horses. This was the set for the1927 silent western film featuring Edmund Cobb. It was directed by Ernest Laramie and written by Catherine Levy, and was produced by Universal Pictures. RPPC is Artura stamp box, addressed but not mailed to Dean Van Nostern, Mabton, WA. As good a silent cowboy movie card as we've seen.

Lazy Boy, Blackfeet Indian Medicine Man, thought to be born 1851. Medicine men weren't often allowed to fight because they were thought of as "holy" in many ways. Young Indian warriors would call them "lazy" because of this.

Beginnings of a big industry in Oregon. Enterprise Planing Mill in Multnomah County, Portland, OR was placed in the National Register of historic places in 2006. Sawing rough lumber into useable construction logs was the main job of a planing mill. Nicer ones like Enterprise also made doors, molding and frames.

This one wins the money. Best I've seen from this great southeast Kansas town. Coffeyville Carriage Works, signs for painting and repairing all kinds of carriages. Big sign on roof and side of building, and a nice Bon-Ton Bakery wagon just at the door. Great ad on back for the building of transfer wagons, bread wagons, milk wagons, grocery wagons, laundry wagons, painting and trimming, horse shoeing and rubber tires. Only Camp Branch MO depot I've ever seen, and this image has the train in the station. Camp Branch was on the Katy Trail, between Sedalia and Greenridge MO, which is where this was mailed from and to. It was mailed in August, with note about hoping the view of all the snow at Camp Branch would help keep them cool.
