The bank was closed on January 28, 1875, so circulation of these items was extremely limited. The vast majority of pieces were then destroyed. Light spots.

Highest denomination of this Queen Elizabeth II series; the only type issued with that date and the only to carry the signature of T.S.C. McIlwain as Commissioner of Currency. It is reasonable to assume that previous issues of that denomination were almost exhausted from circulation and Treasury reserves and that there was a need for such a denomination in the market, given the fact that the 1957 note was a low print run. This note, along with the 5 Pounds 1960, are Cyprus' rarest Queen Elizabeth II 5 Pounds. Small hole bottom right center; spot top right. Sold as is; no returns.
