2018 November Fall In Kansas Auction > Nov. 13 @ 6:30 PM (CT) Session 1 - US - 2018 November Fall In Kansas Auction

Lot #28257 - Error Notes > National Bank Notes > Massachusetts - ($ 20,000.00 - $ 40,000.00)
Fr. 409 $10/$20 Original Double Denomination
This is the only known First Charter Double Denomination I have ever seen or heard of, and while it's been restored it needed it. The note has excellent pen signatures and I can just imagine the signers not seeing the error. It boggles my imagination. I am also surprised that the back is a $20 that is not inverted, meaning the face was a four note plate and the back was $10-10-10-20. The back has to be for a different charter as the sheets on this charter were $01-10-10-10 and $20-20-50-50. Wow...it could have been a $10/$50 double denomination. Low grade but an unbelievable rarity. PCGS notes: major restoration.

Lot #28258 - Error Notes > National Bank Notes > Georgia - ($ 75,000.00 - $ 150,000.00)
Fr. 581 $10/$20 1882VB Double Denomination Pair
This is one of the rarest pairs of National Bank Notes and they come from a sheet of Value Backs that have the back flipped and the face printed right side up. Each note is a $30 note. One has a $10 face and $20 back while the other has a $20 face and a $10 back. Each of the notes has the stamped signatures of Robert J. Lowry, President and Warner Martin, Cashier. This pair is impeccable but each is only graded AU 50, likely because of the orientation of the margins caused by the back being flipped. I count these among the $50/$100 notes from the same sheet like the Albuquerque, New Mexico Territory $50/$100 Brown Back Double Denomination or the $50/$100 #1 Brown Back from San Francisco or the $50/$100 #1 Red Seal pairs. There are just very few pairs in this rarity group. Two piece lot.

Lot #28259 - Error Notes > National Bank Notes > North Dakota - ($ 35,000.00 - $ 70,000.00)
Fr. 658 $20/$10 1902ND Double Denomination
I believe that this is the finest graded Double Denomination on a Blue Seal National Bank Note. This would be the only $20 on this sheet but the back is inverted so a $10/$20 could exist. This jewel will capture the imagination of collectors everywhere with its quality, stamped signatures and uniqueness of manufacture. I know of no better Third Charter Double Denomination.

Lot #28260 - Error Notes > National Bank Notes > Minnesota - ($ 25,000.00 - $ 50,000.00)
Fr. 650/624 $20/$10 1902ND Double Denomination
I have looked at a great many large size National Bank Notes and never have I found an accidental Double Denomination among them. This error is a beauty that occurred when a $10 sheet back was inverted, to cause this mix up a $10/$20, as well as a $20/$10 and two $10 inverts. I'm not sure when this error was discovered, by the bankers or later.
Grade: VF 30    Bank Name: Parker's Prairie, First NB, 6661
Lot #28261 - Error Notes > National Bank Notes > Illinois - ($ 20,000.00 - $ 40,000.00)
Fr. 644 $20/$10 1902DB Double Denomination
This is a rare Double Denomination with an inverted back and from a scarce Chicago location. While we know this came from the Grinnell Collection, its discovery history is less obvious. This seems like the ultimate note for a National Bank Note collector of Chicago or a Chicago error collector. I feel history would show it has belonged to both. Ex: Grinnell Collection.

Lot #28262 - Error Notes > Large Size Silver Certificates - ($ 15,000.00 - $ 30,000.00)
Fr. 258 $2/$1 1899 Double Denomination
A well used example of a $3 Silver Certificate. This Double Denomination features the face of a $2 1899 Silver Certificate and the back is a $1 1899 Silver Certificate. While quite rare, these are often thought to be a more common Double Denomination error.
Grade: PMG Fine 12
Lot #28263 - Error Notes > Large Size Federal Reserve Notes - ($ 15,000.00 - $ 30,000.00)
Fr. 751 $2/$1 1918 New York Double Denomination
The $3 bill with a $2 on the face and a $1 on the back is the most often seen large size Double Denomination, with possibly as many as 20 reported from the multiple Federal Reserve Districts. All known had a $2 face and $1 back. This note has been graded VF 20 and is likely one of the highest graded, but not the highest. Previously from Stacks Bowers in 2011.
Grade: PCGS VF 20
Lot #28264 - Error Notes > National Bank Notes > Illinois - ($ 25,000.00 - $ 50,000.00)
Fr. 868 $5/$10 1914BS Chicago Double Denomination
This $5/$10 Chicago FRN is the only one recorded for this type. A $5 face and a $10 back. This note is a lone wolf, yet there are $10/$20 or $20/$10 FRNs known as well. The grade is a pleasing VF 30 PPQ.
Grade: PCGS VF 30 PPQ
Lot #28265 - Error Notes > Federal Reserve Notes - ($ 30,000.00 - $ 60,000.00)
Fr. 2001-E $10/$5 1928-A Richmond E-A Double Denomination
I think it's safe to say that I have never had a pair of Fr. 1951-E/2001-E $10/$5 Double Denominations in the same sale. These notes are consecutive serial numbers and the #E04744282A is nicely centered, like a '63' or '64', just lovely in every way. Both cut half sheets were in Grinnell while records I find show eight serial numbers. Previously from a September 2006 Heritage auction.

Fr. 2001-E $10/$5 1928-A Richmond E-A Double Denomination
A great opportunity to acquire an example of this ultra rare Double Denomination. This note is graded AU Net because of a corner restoration and the left margin is tight, which is a problem with half of them. This provides a more reasonable option to a budget minded collector. PMG notes: corner restoration, trimmed.
Grade: PMG Abt. UNC 50 Net
Lot #28267 - Error Notes > Federal Reserve Notes - ($ 25,000.00 - $ 50,000.00)
Fr. 2011-B $10/$1 1950-A New York Double Denomination
This $11 bill, as it's commonly known, features the face of a New York 1950-A FRN and the back of a No Motto $1 Silver Certificate, making this a Double Denomination. There are eight examples that I can confirm. This note is Ch. AU with some handling. When new Mule notes appear on the market the values reached can be very high.

Fr. 1960-J $10 1934-D Kansas City J-A Double Denomination
We have written the story several times about the area bank teller that couldn't get her cash drawer to balance because she would count her money face up and recount it face down. Imagine that frustration. This note has amazing paper quality and centering. Few will be found better.
Grade: Gem CU
Lot #28269 - Error Notes > Large Size Legal Tender Issues - ($ 1,000.00 - $ 2,000.00)
Fr. 94 $10 1862 Incomplete Partial Face Printing
This error, an incomplete partial face printing, is of epic historic proportions and worthy of the most advanced collection due to the mind-boggling nature of this early error. 1857 is a time which predates Federal currency! The entire black printing, including the vignette of Art as an allegory, the central eagle, the portrait of slain President Lincoln, the engraved signatures and borders are missing. Likewise, the note lacks the red serial number and seal. Only one similar missing printing exists (on a $500 1882 Gold Certificate) and that was advertised at $250,000 nearly 23 years ago. I don't really know whether this was supposed to be the first face plate printing but I would have thought the block ink would have printed first. A rare item whether an error or a special early trial of some sort. I recall nothing else similar in 50 years. PCGS notes: edge damage.

Fr. 714 $1 1918 Philadelphia #C444444A Gutter Fold
This is quite an anomaly with the solid serial #C444444A and a gutter fold that is visible on the back. I prefer the solid serial rather than the gutter fold but this is an error.

Fr. 1614 $1 1935-E B-H Multiple Printings Overprint
Multiple printings of value overprint with BEP rejection mark on face. This error challenges my imagination as the third printing is doubled and that error has been really rare on a $1 Silver Certificate. The red rejection mark is visible, left to right across the face. The paper is someone toned as well. PCGS notes: stained.

This note certainly qualifies to be near the top of the error note rarity list as it has the third printing only and is clearly on the wrong stock (paper) to the rest. The BEP is very careful with errors of this sort as their release into circulation are anything but ordinary. This jewel is truly an item of wonder that was likely printed on paper used to separate printed sheets or such.

Incredible cutting error with sheet fed obliquely into cutting knives. The G-Y block was not released in uncut sheet form. Further, there is a partial transfer offset of the green Treasury seal above the serial numbers, suggesting a fold occurred elsewhere resulting in the mistake. An error of epic proportions. There is nothing remotely similar in the 4th edition of the Bart reference. Adding to the allure is the presence of two different serial numbers. A note for the ages. Our error specialist described it as 'an overnight discovery, nearly 40 years in the making, certain to become one of the most important discoveries during this decade.' Believed to be utterly unique! One of only two uncut sheets known to have mistakes, aside from those with engraving or mismatch errors. While somewhat light, the details become legible with a bit of study; flipping the sheet, when examining the extra images, helps enormously. As the orientation and spacing of the extra images indicates, it was printed on the Magna Quad press with the extraneous impressions upside down and angled. Because mistakes on uncut sheets are so rare, Bart does not even attempt to classify them. While he might not have an example to illustrate, you have the opportunity to own this unique piece.

Test Pack of 100 Consecutive Notes Experimental German Printing
Previously from a Heritage Auction, Lot 16611, Sept. 2011 this lot was described as follows: 'A consecutively numbered pack of 100 notes, each printed on plain white bond paper and banded with a BEP $100 'ones' band, and each numbered with what certainly appears to be a normal US currency font serial number. These notes were obtained in Europe, and were allegedly printed as a test using one of the German designed presses which the BEP was evaluating for purchase some years ago. We have seen no other such items for sale and have no earthly idea of value here, but we would be quite surprised if $50 or more per note was not a base per piece price for this unusual and fascinating item'. Indeed a fascinating currency lot and one of only two packs known.

Fr. 1509 $2 1953 #A11111111A
The pinnacle of all solid serial numbers is offered right now. This note was bought by Mike Abramson from David Klein in 1987 for $3,000. Mike sold the note to John Whitney from his 1999 fixed price list, and Mel purchased this prize from the John Whitney Walter auction in 2004. We anticipate the new owner won't part with this incredible note for many, many years to come. A total of only eight solid serial numbered $2 1953 - 1963 Legal Tender Notes were printed. We feel this is the single most desirable solid serial number a collector could own. Ex: Mel Wilmore Collection.

Fr. 1512 $2 1953-C #A77777777A
Arguably the second most desirable solid serial number in this sale. Other than the $2 1953 Legal Tender #A11111111A, you'll have a real challenge remembering another $2 US Note from 1953 - 1963 with a solid serial number. This great note looks AU but is in a PMG 35 Ch. VF holder. Our bid estimate may be far too low. Ex: Mel Wilmore Collection.

We start the auction off with a bang with the special serial number section! This spectacular duo represents the extraordinary opportunity of obtaining the only known $5 small size Red Seal rollover pair. Examining all $5 Legal Tender series, from 1928 to 1963, we find that no other $5 Legal Tender rollover pairs having ever been auctioned. Rare doesn't beging to describe this pair. Here are the facts: In the $5 1928 - 1928-F Legal Tender series, only blocks A-A through I-A plus *-A were printed. For the 1953 to 1953-C series only blocks A-A, B-A, C-A and *-A were printed. The A-A and *-A blocks were printed in the 1963 series. So we know with certainty that a total of sixteen serial #00000001 $5 small Red Seals were printed. With various government officials likely receiving some of them, their rarity is unquestioned. There are only two serial #1s known: the $5 1928-A LT #D00000001A and the $5 1928-C LT #H00000001A. When researching the number of solid serial numbered $5 1928 - 1928-F Legal Tenders we find only these five solid serial numbers having been sold publically: #B22222222A, #B66666666A, #E99999999A, #F77777777A, #G99999999A. Therefore we are confident that this is indeed, the only known $5 Red Seal Rollover pair: #G99999999A and #H00000001A. This pair was last auctioned by Lyn Knight Currency Auctions in October 2004, at the landmark John Whitney Walter auction, Lot #353 where the buyer paid $32,200 to acquire it. That was 14 years ago and we believe it will bring significantly more tonight. The #G99999999A has been graded PMG 55 Ch. AU and the #H00000001A is in a PMG 45 Ch. XF holder. Both notes look a grade or two higher and both are irreplaceable.

Fr. 1613W $1 1935-D #T23456789E Full Up Ladder
Looking back over four decades of auctions, I don't believe you will find a dozen Silver Certificate full ladder serial numbers being sold. The astute buyer will realize that these Silver Certificate ladders are hundreds of times rarer than their FRN counterparts. Here is a $1 1935-D SC #T23456789E graded PMG Ch. UNC 64 EPQ. If you don't buy this full up ladder Silver Certificate, be prepared to wait a long, long time before seeing another one.

This #S88888888E note will bring a premium price. Many of you know that the most desired number in many Oriental cultures is the #8. The 1988 Chinese Olympics were purposely held on 08-08-88. We have observed multiple sales of uncirculated serial #88888888 notes at the $6,000 level in the past.

This is one of the later blocks for a 1934-B Silver Certificate which printed over 5 billion notes. This is the last note printed for the W-H block with solid #W99999999H. There is a little extra margin on the left end but this is an ultra rare serial number.

What a stunning looking piece this is! A dual courtesy autographed $1 1957 STAR note, hand signed by both the US Treasurer and the Secretary of the Treasury, bearing fancy serial number *00000888A. There is no apparent reason why this note hasn't been graded Ch. CU or better, but we don't believe it makes much, if any difference, in the value of this rarity. Expect plenty of competition on this beauty. Our price estimate could well prove too low. Ex: Mel Wilmore Collection.

Collectors seeking out solid serial numbered Silver Certificates know that they have all but disappeared since the Wilmore sale. While both the James W. Billy Key and Mel Wilmore auctions placed a good number of 1935 - 1957 solid serial numbered Silver Certificates into the marketplace, they are now long gone and incredibly hard to buy. The vast majority of Silver Certificate solids have graded '64' or lower, making this great note a true find. Ex: James W. 'Billy' Key Collection.

Progressive Set of $1s #00000001 - #99999999 Various Dates
Here is a truly unbelievable set of progressive serial numbers and all but six notes are a 1928 Funny Back printing, and every serial number possible are represented for a progressive set. The set begins with #00000001, 00000011, 00000111, 00001111, 00011111, 00111111, 0111111, 11111111 which means all single digits 1-9 and all the solids 1-9, and each number of digits is 1-9. This set was clearly built by one with access and even they could not find the six notes obviously acquired later. I believe this is a case where the sum of the set is greater than the sum of the individual pieces, but this set could be split into sets from single digits to solids. An amazing set. $1 1963 - 2003 Complete 90 Note Set Super Radar Notes
From the late 1970s through about 2010, there were always one to three employees at different U.S. banks and armored car companies that monthly supplied dozens of fancy serial numbers to dealers Robert Azpiazu, Mike Crabb, Mike Abramson and Willy Baeder. With the advent of large banks buying up their smaller competitors, those days are long over. We know of no domestic supplier that is regularly supplying large quantities of $1 radar or repeater notes to any dealer in the past three years. The supply sources have simply disappeared, as the bank and armored car owners have installed very tight controls on employees handling cash. The very few new fancy serial number notes entering the marketplace are now arriving from foreign suppliers, in much, much smaller quantities. This and the next set were assembled over three decades and are now virtually impossible to duplicate, based on today's supply sources. This incredible set contains every possible SUPER RADAR serial number from #01111110, #02222220, #03333330,# 04444440, etc. through and including #96666669, #97777779, and #988888889. All 90 $1 FRNs are at least Ch. UNC with the vast majority being Gem UNC. We know of only six complete super radar sets and we repeat that your chances of assembling another one is now virtually nil. If one seeks out individual uncirculated $1 FRN #ABBBBBBA notes, one would expect to pay $100 to $125 per note, except for the tough ones: #1000001, #30000003, #40000004, #50000005, #60000006, #70000007, #80000008, #90000009, #96666669, #97777779, #98888889. We have seen the $1 #20000002 recently offered at $2,500, historically the toughest serial number in this group to locate.

Fr. 1938-H $2 2003-A St. Louis #H88888888C
The $2 solid serial numbers are nearly 100 times as rare as their $1 solid serial number counterparts. As of the end of 2017 the BEP had printed only four $2 notes with serial #88888888. We think this is the best of the four, because it is solid 8s on the #8 district. The $2 2009 FRN #K88888888F was recently offered on eBay at $11,500. This note will be impossible to replace, and one of two keys to completing a complete denomination set of $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 solid #88888888s.

Fr. 1940-F $2 2013 Atlanta #F11111111A
We have seen only one other solid serial number $2 FRN in a '67' holder and this piece is tied with that specimen for finest known. Four boardwalk margins on this Deuce, making it just a "killer" piece. Considering that you simply don't see any $2 bills in circulation, nor do most cash registers even have a space to accommodate two dollar bills, the chances of finding any solid serial number on a Deuce are extraordinarily low. Considering that less than a dozen solid serial numbered green seal notes have been auctioned since the 1980s, this is a true prize. If you want the finest and among the rarest small size bills, this beauty won't disappoint you.

Only a single example has been seen by PMG after over a dozen years in business, and that piece is only a single point better. A great numbered district San Francisco note with exceptional centering and flawless paper. In a recent auction last month, we saw an inferior PMG Gem UNC 65 EPQ sell for $660.

Lot #28712 - Small Size Type Notes > Federal Reserve Notes - ($ 700.00 - $ 1,400.00)
Fr. 1952-D $5 1928-B* Cleveland D-*
Dark Green Seal. Tied for Top Pop at both grading services. A total of three pieces have been graded with all receiving the VF 35 grade. Auction appearances are crushingly rare, with the only other one we can find from the massive Taylor Family collection of 2005. That note was a reasonably unappealing Fine and it still topped the $500 mark that day. The healthy appearance of this note comports it as an XF note and we have little doubt that bidders will combat tooth and nail to obtain it.

A serial #1 note with the light green seal from Philadelphia. This type with this serial number is as rare as you can imagine because few light green seal notes were issued. This is a nice, fresh UNC but it has average centering. Records indicate few are known. According to the Standard Guide to Small Size Currency the other note known is from Dallas. This is indeed a rarity.

Fr. 1996-L $5 2013 San Francisco #ML11111111G
We are lucky to have the variety of deominations in solid serial #11111111s that are featured in this auction. We rarely get more than a couple for any single sale. This 2013 $5 FRN with #ML11111111G has been graded PCGS 64 PPQ, but we have seen quite a few notes graded '66' that don't look this nice. It certainly deserves a Gem CU bid.

Lot #28751 - Small Size Type Notes > Federal Reserve Notes - ($ 700.00 - $ 1,400.00)
Fr. 2000-L* $10 1928* San Francisco L-*
A really tough star that has 10 pieces listed in the Track & Price census. Nothing in the grading services' Pop Reports comes even close to a CU grade; XF 40 is the top grade listed. A moderate degree of circulation does little to hinder the aesthetic charms of this note. Last year a PMG VF 25 topped the $700 figure.

Fr. 2001-G $10 1928-A Chicago G-A
What seems like a mundane note is really not at all what it seems. This numbered district Chicago note is from the better 1928-A series. Gem examples or better are really sought after by collectors. In the past decade, we have seen a few Gem 66 EPQ pieces which have sold for between $2,000-$4,000 each.

Fr. 2006-C $10 1934-A Philadelphia #C99999999A/#C00000001B
Access has to have been the key to obtaining this amazing set which has the highest serial #C99999999A from the C-A block and the first of the C-B block with serial #C00000001B. An extraordinary pair matching the last note of the C-A block with the first from the C-B block. The serial #C99999999A is graded Gem New 65 PPQ and # C00000001B is Gem New 66 PPQ. Two piece lot.

Fr. 2008-H $10 1934-C St. Louis #H0000001B
Light green seal. Advanced collectors realize that locating Federal Reserve Notes with serial #00000001 on any series before 1963 is a tough proposition. The 1950 era #1s show up only occasionally but 1934s are another story. This 1934 era note is over 100 times rarer than $10 FRNs printed on or after 1963. We can find only five serial #00000001s on all blocks on $10 FRNs from 1934 to 1934-D, having ever been publicly auctioned. With small head 1963 to 1995 $10 serial #1s historically bringing $5,000 to $8,000 at auction, this note is worth a multiple of that price range. This $10 1934-C FRN light green seal #H00000001B has the appearance of at least Ch. UNC. It has been graded conservatively as a PMG Ch. Abt. New 58 , with a strong argument for grading it '64' or better. Ex. John Whitney Walter and James W. "Billy" Key Collections.

Gorgeous $10 1963-A Federal Reserve Note with the wonderful block-letter matched serial #B00000001B, graded PMG 65 EPQ. Matched block letters such as A-A, B-B, C-C always bring a premium at auction. When you add in its PMG grade of '65 EPQ', this note should bring a very strong price. It has everything going for it including nice margins and good color. With big head uncirculated $10 #1s bringing $5,000 to $8,000, this older series, block-matched #1 is surely worth a significant premium.

Fr. 2107-E $50 1950 Richmond #E00000001A
This is not your run-of-the-mill serial #00000001 note. Older series $50 serial #00000001 notes are incredibly rare. For all 12 districts for the entire $50 FRN 1928/1928-A series only the #E00000001A and #F00000001A are known. For the entire $50 FRN 1934/1934-D series only the #F00000001A is known and for the $50 1950/1950-E series only the #C00000001A and this note, the #E00000001A are known. The number of $50 denominations printed back in the 1950s and 1960s was miniscule in comparison to other denomations. In fact the 'B' suffix letter was never used on any district on $50 FRNs printed from series 1928 through 1950-E. This $50 1950 FRN #E00000001A has been graded PMG VF 25 and is quite clean for the grade. Those of you attempting to put together a denomination set of serial number #1s, would do well to acquire this wonderful piece.

Top Pop at PMG. Evidence of trace handling is all that keeps this from a better grade. The scarcest note of the three districts that printed notes for the 1950-E series. Crisp and fresh paper is easily envisioned when looking through the plastic holder. A great note.

Fr. 2124-D $50 1990 Cleveland #D55555555A
Looking at the Schwartz O'Donnell reference guide you quickly learn that $50 solid serial numbered notes are the rarest of the rare. The BEP has never printed many $50 notes in any series. According to the Schwartz/Lindquist Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money, we find the following total number printed of solid serial numbered $50 Small Head FRNs by series: 1928-1928A - 0, 1934-1934D - 3, 1950-1950E - 5, 1963A - 0, 1969-1969C - 7, 1974 - 12, 1977 - 14, 1981-1981A - 27, 1985 - 45, 1988 - 28, 1990 - 60. A grand total of only 201 Small Head $50 solid serial number notes were printed. Keeping in mind two facts: 1) While these solids were printed, not all of them were necessarily released into circulation and 2) The vast majority of $50 and $100 notes have been shipped overseas. This is an incredibly rare $50 #D55555555A. Our estimate may be far too conservative. Ex: James W. 'Billy' Key Collection.

Fifty dollar ladders are in a different league than other denominations. In a typical year, the BEP will print ten times as many $1 FRNs as $50 FRNs. Adding to the fact that perhaps 80% of high denomination notes get shipped overseas, and you'll know that this piece is much rarer than other ladders you'll encounter. Adding in the fact that is in a '67 EPQ' holder, and you've got a real find here. A $50 1996 FRN #AG07654321C PMG Superb Gem UNC 67 EPQ.

With all of the solid #88888888s we are offering in this auction, you might think this piece is no big deal. But you'd be dead wrong. Examining the Schwartz-Lindquist guide to small size paper money, we see that the BEP didn't print serial #8888888 from the 1928 series through the 1977 series. In fact, a total of only 13 serial #88888888s were printed in all series of Small Head $50 FRNs from 1928 to 1993. On Big Head $50 bills, we note the following number of serial #88888888 $50s printed: Series 1996 - 11, Series 2001 - none, Series 2004 - 1 (this note), 2004A - none, 2006 - none, and 2009 - 1. This note is the drop-dead needed denomination for all collectors trying to complete a $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 #88888888 set. Our consignor paid over $20,000 for this amazing note.

Prohibitively rare 19 piece up and down progressive ladder set. Creating a set like this with $1 FRNs may be do-able over a couple of decades, but this set contains seventeen $100 FRNs and one $50 FRN! Most people wouldn't believe such a set could be created, but here we have it: $100 2001 #CE00000001A PMG 65 EPQ, $100 2006-A #KB00000012P PMG 66 EPQ, $100 1996 #AB00000123Y PMG 64 EPQ, $100 2003-A #FB00001234C PMG 64 EPQ, $100 2003-A #FB00012345C PMG 66 EPQ, $100 2003-A #FE00123456A, $100 2006-A #KB01234567L PMG 67 EPQ, $100 2006-A #KG12345678B PMG 64 EPQ, $100 2006-A #KF23456789D PMG 66 EPQ, $100 2006-A #KB98765432K PMG 66 EPQ, $100 2006-A #KK87654321A PMG 66 EPQ, $100 2006 #KB76543210L PMG 67 EPQ, $100 2009-A #LF06543210A PMG 66 EPQ, $50 2001 #CH00543210A PMG 64 EPQ, $100 1999 #BC00004321A PMG 66 EPQ, $100 2003 #DB0003210B PMG 65 EPQ, $100 1996 #AB00000321Y PMG 64 EPQ, $100 1999 #BB00000210* PMG 66 EPQ, $100 2009-A #LE00000021D PMG 67 EPQ. It's hard to believe anyone could assemble this. When valuing this set, keep in mind that the $100 2009-A FRN #LE00000001D sold last year for a price in excess of $30,000 and that full up and full down $100 ladder notes trade hands at $3,000 - $4,000 per note. Lot #28849 - Small Size Type Notes > Hawaii Issue - ($ 500.00 - $ 5,000.00)
Fr. 2300 $1 1935-A P-C Hawaii Postmarked
The note is postmarked twice "Sept. 1, 1945, U.S. Navy - Tokyo Bay". Postmarked from the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay in remembrance of the day Japan laid down its arms and surrendered to General McArthur. I doubt that few on board that day thought to immortalize it with a postmarked bill representing Hawaii.

Fr. 2300 $1 1935-A Hawaii P-C

Lot #28852 - Small Size Type Notes > North Africa Issue - ($ 600.00 - $ 1,200.00)
Fr. 2306 $1 1935-A North Africa F-C
F-C is the scarcest block of this North Africa type. Tight margins are always an issue with these which is why so many fall into the "62-63" grade range. Any example in this state of preservation is a condition rarity.
Grade: PCGS Gem New 65 PPQ

Lot #28857 - Small Size Type Notes > North Africa Issue - ($ 25,000.00 - $ 50,000.00)
Fr. 2308 $10 1934 North Africa B-A Mule
A magnificient example of this ultra rare Gem UNC 66 EPQ $10 1934 North Africa. There are 12 UNC $10 North Africa 1934s that belonged to Chet Krause and Harry Forman back in the late 1960s, and that is where these can be traced back to. This note has a pedigree to a Chicago area banker during that period and he loved the best. This note is the best and if it were graded I wouldn't be surprised with a '68' designation as the front, back, top, bottom and sides are all amazing. There are three examples graded '66 EPQ' and none better. We sold a '63' last year at $15,275 and in 2009 a '66' realized within a breath of $30,000.
Grade: PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ

Lot #28867 - Small Size Type Notes > Gold Certificates - ($ 25,000.00 - $ 40,000.00)
Fr. 2408 $1,000 1928 A-A
Here is a true rarity, in as much as the money was flying freely in the late 1920s. I'm surprised few were unscathed over the ensuing decade. Also, they were not legal to hold so banks would have turned them in, being good citizens. I believe this was sold as UNC, or it should have been. This note, with its bright, fresh originality along with the excellent color and centering, is new to the system. A beautiful rarity and 1 of 83 small notes reported, with approximately 10 UNCs and a few AUs.
Grade: PMG Abt. UNC 55
